Case study · Amwaj Tour

From a hacked website to a tour platform in 6 languages.

This travel website design case study shows how Floux rebuilt Amwaj Tour, a Luxor tour company, from the ground up after its old website kept being attacked: new UX and design, custom tour software, six languages, SEO from technical to local, and monthly protection. Planned, built and launched in 60 days.

Project snapshot

Who it is for and what we delivered.

The facts behind this travel website design case study, in six lines.

Client

Amwaj Tour, a Luxor company running private day tours, Nile cruises, hot-air balloon flights, multi-day trips and transfers across Egypt.

Audience

Travellers from around the world, served in English, French, Spanish, German, Korean and Chinese.

Scope

39 tours, 12 transfers, 6 destinations and 12 travel articles in every language: 486 pages in the sitemap.

Platform

WordPress and Divi 5, a custom child theme and a custom plugin with custom post types and Advanced Custom Fields.

Care

Monthly maintenance and security after launch: updates, monitoring and defence against attacks.

The starting point

A website under attack cannot sell trips.

Amwaj Tour came to us with a website that was facing hackers, including SEO spam attacks aimed at its Google rankings. That put two things at risk at once: travellers' trust and the company's place in search results.

Patching was no longer enough. We agreed to rebuild everything from the ground up on clean, hardened foundations, and to use the rebuild to fix the experience and the SEO at the same time.

  • Hacking and SEO spam attacks putting the brand's reputation with Google at risk
  • A rebuild that had to fix the experience and the SEO too, not only the security
  • Search engines and travellers needed the same tours in several languages
  • The owner needed a partner to keep the new site safe, not just launch it

Our method

Five stages, 60 days.

From the first planning call to launch day, this travel website design case study followed the same Floux method, sized for a multilingual tour platform.

60

Days, plan to launch

01

of 05 stages

01

Discover

How travellers choose a trip, which questions they ask and which searches they use, turned into a sitemap for tours, transfers, destinations and articles.

02

UX and design

A new experience from the first screen to the booking request, with a dark and a light theme, designed for phone and desktop.

03

Build

Custom post types and Advanced Custom Fields for tours, destinations and transfers, AJAX search and filters, route maps and booking forms.

04

Languages and SEO

Six languages with hreflang, then SEO in layers: technical, on-page and structured data, and local SEO for Luxor.

05

Launch and protect

Security hardening, caching and a CDN at launch, then monthly maintenance and defence against attacks.

What we built

Eight features that turn visitors into travellers.

Tours as real content types

Tours, destinations and transfers are custom post types with Advanced Custom Fields, so a new trip is a form to fill, not a page to design.

Search like a booking site

A where, when and travellers search bar on every page, with adults, children and infants counted separately.

Instant filters

AJAX filters by destination and kind of trip (day tours, desert trips, balloons, multi-day trips, Nile cruises) and sorting by price.

Route maps on every itinerary

Each day of a tour lists its stops and draws them on an interactive map, built on open map data with no paid map key.

Booking without friction

Travellers ask for a date and a price with nothing to pay; the team confirms on WhatsApp or by email, and guests can manage their booking.

Six languages, one team

English, French, Spanish, German, Korean and Chinese, each with its own URLs, menus and translated tours.

Contact that plans the trip

A contact form that asks for travellers and route, plus WhatsApp, phone, email and the office address in Luxor.

Dark and light themes

A cinematic dark theme by default and a light theme one tap away, remembered for each visitor.

The website

Built like a booking platform, run by a local team.

The screens that matter most in any travel website design case study: search and filters, a day-by-day itinerary on a live map, and the homepage and a tour on a phone. Screenshots of the live amwajtour.com.

SEO and security

What our crawler checked on the live site.

Technical SEO across 486 pages

Every sitemap URL returns a clean page with one H1 and a correct canonical, and every page we checked links its five translations plus x-default with hreflang.

Structured data for travel

TouristTrip data on all 234 tour pages, TouristDestination on every destination, FAQ data on 246 pages and breadcrumbs almost everywhere.

Local SEO for Luxor

TravelAgency data with the Luxor address and phone, linked Tripadvisor, Facebook and YouTube profiles, and a locations file for maps.

Content that answers travellers

12 travel articles in each language, from day trips and temples to Egyptian food, answering what travellers ask before they book.

Ready for AI search

An llms.txt file guides AI assistants to the right tour, destination and article.

Security you can check

HTTPS enforced with HSTS, a content security policy, clickjacking and content-type protection, page caching and a CDN.

The homepage

From first screen to footer, scroll it.

The search bar, kinds of trip, featured tours, destinations, the local team, travel stories, arrival transfers and trip planning.

FAQ

Questions about this project.

What tour operators ask us after seeing the Amwaj Tour website.

Why rebuild instead of cleaning the hacked website in this travel website design case study?

Because the old website kept facing attacks, including SEO spam. Cleaning infected files treats the symptom; a rebuild on fresh, hardened foundations removes everything the attackers touched and lets us fix the design, the structure and the SEO at the same time.

What makes a tour operator website different from a normal company website?

Tours behave like products: each one has a duration, inclusions, an itinerary, photos, prices and booking rules. We model tours, destinations and transfers as custom content types with Advanced Custom Fields, then add search, filters, maps and booking requests on top.

How do you handle SEO for a multilingual travel website?

Each language gets its own URLs, translated titles and descriptions and hreflang links between versions. On top of the technical layer we add travel structured data (TouristTrip, TouristDestination, TravelAgency), FAQ data, local SEO for the office city and articles that answer travellers' questions.

Do you look after the website after launch?

Yes. Amwaj Tour has a monthly maintenance and security plan: updates, monitoring and defence against attacks, so the problems that started this project do not come back.
